Aromatherapy Massage

A gentle and relaxing treatment

The healing benefits of plants and oils have been experienced for thousands of years and aromatherapy uses pure essential oils extracted from trees, flowers, herbs, plants and trees that work on both an emotional and physical level helping to balance the body, mind and spirit.

Who is aromatherapy suitable for and how does it work?

Aromatherapy is suitable for all and is a gentle and deeply relaxing treatment. It can be helpful for conditions including muscular aches and pains, skin conditions, digestive disorders, stress, insomnia, lethargy, anxiety and depression. There are some amazing oils which support the body, mind and spirit throughout the different stages of life. Aromatherapy works on both a physical level as the essential oils are blended together and applied to the body directly and also emotionally as the aromas from the oils work with the olfactory system and the the oldest part of the brain, evoking our sense of smell for a deeply relaxing and healing experience.

What can I expect from an aromatherapy session?

Each session is tailored to meet your own individual requirements and a full body aromatherapy massage will usually last around an hour. Each treatment includes an initial consultation which usually lasts around 15 minutes. The first consultation will take longer and up to 30 minutes. Treatments are usually carried out on a couch or for people in a more fragile condition, in a seated position. Your own personal blend will be carefully selected, made there and then and applied to your skin through massage. Although massage is the main way of applying the essential oils to the body, essential oils can also be applied through compresses, inhalations and as a home blend to be used in an evening bath, or in the shower, or massage blend at home. I am happy to advise what is best based on your needs and requirements.
